New York look out! Former California surfer turned French Horn extraordinaire is taking Julliard and NYC by storm. Although David is skilled in ceramics, drawing, painting, design, and snowboarding, he has chosen to focus on his passion for music, which is what brought him to the Red Bull Artsehcro. He has been playing the French horn for 9 years, studying privately with Phyllis Rautenberg and James Thatcher. David’s experience with various orchestras includes: Disney's Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, The Los Angeles Jr. Philharmonic, The Young Musians Foundation, Idyllwild Festival Orchestra, and the Tanglwood Institute. At 15 he won the Discovery Artist award, and he was a 2004 Spotlight Award semi-finalist. By age 18 he played at such major venues as Avery Fisher Hall, Ozaka Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Currently, he is studying with David Wakefield.
