Christian Atanasiu isn’t sure where music will ultimately take him, but he’s finding the journey to be fascinating. Born in Romania, Atanasiu moved to Philadelphia at age three, taking up the violin a year later. Already the recipient of a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Swarthmore, he is currently pursuing a degree in music performance on scholarship at Rowan University. Atanasiu also works as a freelance musician, and he recently toured Spain with the Atlantic Symphony. Because he DJ-ed for several years, the multi-talented artist has particular interest in the Red Bull Artsehcro concept. “I feel like Artsehcro is a step in the right direction for classical music,” he asserts. “Modern music can, and should, incorporate elements of dance and culture without limiting itself to popular genres.”
