Mike (Michael) Alpert is one phenomenal multi-tasker. A biology major at Yale University, he studies French horn with William Purvis of the Yale School of Music, works in a research lab at the School of Medicine, and writes for Yale Scientific Magazine. Alpert has enjoyed playing with the university’s Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestras and has participated in student-run contemporary music groups. During high school, he traveled internationally with the New England Symphonic Ensemble and was a member of the MENC All-Eastern Honors Orchestra, as well as the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Orchestra. In addition to horn, Alpert studied the piano, winning top prizes at events including the Chiang Wen Yeh International Young Artists Piano Competition. He also holds a second-degree black belt in Ninjutsu.
