School: New England Conservatory
Shu Shioda began studying violin at the age of four and was enrolled at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School until the age of eight. He next relocated to New York to attend LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts and study at The Juilliard School of Music’s Pre-College Division, which awarded him a diploma in 2001. Since then, Shioda has returned to the New England Conservatory, where he is a student of Masuko Ushioda. Shioda’s career performance highlights include a trip to Japan in 1998 for the summertime Saito Kinen Festival. There he worked with Seiji Ozawa, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Robert Mann and performed with soloists Maxim Vengerov and Barbara Bonney. More recent summer programs he has attended include the Aspen Music Festival and Québec’s Orford Festival.
