A “new music junkie,” Jaime McGill has premiered more than thirty solo and chamber works for clarinet in North America and Europe. McGill grew up in Omaha, where she began studying clarinet at age nine. She holds bachelor’s degrees in music and German studies from Oberlin College and a master’s degree in clarinet performance from Temple University. Always on the lookout for new projects, McGill admits to living a somewhat transient lifestyle and spent last summer with the International Opera Theater in Citta della Pieve, Italy, rehearsing and performing the world premieres of Troy Herion’s Il Racconto d’Inverno and Mena Hanna’s Storia di un Ciliegio. To top it off, she’s moving to Berlin directly after her performance with Artsehcro. At home in Philadelphia, McGill studies clarinet with Ronald Reuben, practices making electronic beats, and “spends a lot of time waiting for the bus.”
