Kate Eakin of Alexandria, La. may have a decade of playing oboe under her belt in her, but it’s her garage-band-guitar-playing kid brother she’s got to thank for telling her about Red Bull Artsehcro. Not only does Kate perform with a quintet playing storytelling pieces like “Peter and the Wolf” for children, but this 23-year-old McGill University student teaches, has her own reed business, and is involved in the contemporary music scene in Montreal.
